Plundering the depths of The Cave’s magical talking grotto is like taking a tour of Ron Gilbert’s brain. There’s the comedy monkey chasing a banana. There’s the hermit turned mad by years trapped alone on a deserted island. There’s a New Grog vending machine. At least there are no pirates among them. Players can choose from the Adventurer, the Scientist, the Monk, the Time Traveller, the Knight, the Twins and the Hillbilly. Select the demonic-looking Twins and you’ll find their Victorian house, complete with mother, father and dog inside. These disparate places exist inside the Cave, as explained by the Cave itself, because they’re the source of whatever those characters most desire.

Those desires all turn out to be connected via their dark subject matter; what the Twins want most, for instance, is to murder their parents. Each story is a morality tale, starring characters with human flaws blindly pursuing missions towards some grim end. It’s perhaps no accident that there’s seven of them.

This is likely due in part to the way the story’s told in brief, in-game cutscenes or through talking heads appearing in your heads-up display. No matter how heavy handed the storytelling got in the final moments, the ending was as insignificant as the narrative beats preceding it.

Space flight sims have been scarce on the PC gaming field for a very long time, but with the recent news of both Star Citizen and Elite: Dangerous being on their way, it seems that the genre is suddenly becoming more popular. But if we believe Wraith Entertainment, these old timers’ space sims will have no chance in the modern market. Indeed, Wraith Entertainment’s press release manages to sound obnoxious when it says that “[w]e wanted to resurrect space sims, but understood the genre died for a reason. So to make Dawnstar more appealing to the modern audience, we infused it with fast paced action, modern gameplay mechanics, and as much style and panache two nerds could muster.”

If that does not grate against the nerves of every space sim fan out there, I don’t know what might. However, when you begin the game, you will immediately notice that the game is not fighting in the same category as the classic space sims. Instead, it is a simple space shooter with a style of its own and a nice little story to get the experience going. If only that was the full story.

This is not the Dante you’re used to – he’s brash, cocky, headstrong and kind of a jerk at the onset. But that’s the point. Shortly after waking up from a one night stand with some strippers (yup), Dante gets drafted into a war between Heaven and Hell that leads to the discovery of his true heritage and birth right. It’s quintessential origin story stuff, and it gives Ninja Theory some breathing room to cut loose and provide Dante with an actual narrative arc.

The WarZ Keygen

Talk about context. The War Z is a forgettable experience, easy enough to dismiss with a few nasty words and the faintest of praise. But it is impossible to ignore the game's damned developers, who since its release have revealed themselves to be either incompetent buffoons or crooked shysters.
